How to install

Step 1

Create the AWS resources

Download the provided PylonS3SyncCfnTemplate.yaml CloudFormation template and run it in AWS to automatically create the resources required for S3 warehouse sync. A manual setup guide is available if you'd rather configure resources yourself.

Step 2

Install the AWS S3 app

Install the AWS S3 app from the Apps Directory in Pylon.

Step 3

Create a sync

Click Create to set up a new sync, supply the IAM role and policy details you configured in AWS, and save the settings.

Step 4

Enable the sync

Once the sync is created, toggle it on so it's connected and enabled.

Frequently asked questions

How much data does each sync export?

Every run exports a full load of your customer data. The most recent partition uploaded contains your entire dataset, so you always have a complete copy rather than a set of incremental changes.

What format is the data stored in?

All data is written to your configured S3 bucket in Parquet, a columnar format suited to analytical querying.

Can I control which data gets synced?

Yes. The export is based on the schema configured on your Warehouse Sync page, so you determine what's included.

Do I have to configure the AWS resources manually?

No. Pylon provides a CloudFormation template that creates the required resources automatically. A manual setup guide is also available if you prefer to configure them yourself.
